Pencarrow is Palliser Estate’s second-tier label. The 2013 vintage (3.5*) was fermented and matured for nine months in oak barriques (22 per cent new), and about one-third of the blend was handled with indigenous yeasts and malolactic fermentation. Fresh, vibrant and sweetly oaked, it has ripe stone-fruit flavours, slightly mealy and toasty, and lots of drink-young appeal. Best drinking 2015.
