Pask Declaration Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec (2013)

This Gimblett Gravels blend is matured for 18 months in French and Hungarian oak casks (90 per cent new in 2010). Retasted in mid-2015, the 2010 vintage (4*) has full, moderately youthful colour. Fragrant, mouthfilling and supple, with blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours showing good but not great concentration, it’s drinking well now, but the 2013 Gimblett Road Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec (see below) offers better value.
