Neudorf Twenty Five Rows Nelson Chardonnay (2013)

The debut 2013 vintage (5*) is a single-vineyard wine, estate-grown at Upper Moutere. Harvested ‘from the first 25 rows of our Neudorf Home Block’, it was fermented in tanks, rather than barrels, then matured on its yeast lees for 10 months in old oak puncheons. A wine of real substance, it is tight, youthful and minerally, in a very lightly oaked, ‘Chablis’ style with substantial body and deep, citrusy, mealy flavours. A thought-provoking wine, it’s definitely not brash, but shows strong personality.
