Estate-grown at Wanaka, the 2012 vintage (5*) was hand-picked from vines planted in 1994 and matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (50 per cent new). Weighty and silky-textured, with lovely fruit sweetness, it is savoury, with very ripe cherry/plum flavours, impressive complexity and excellent harmony. A ‘complete’ wine, it’s likely to be long-lived.
