Grown in the Lovat Vineyard in Martinborough, a few hundred metres down the road from the winery, the 2013 vintage (5*) was made from vines over 20 years old. Weighty (14.5 per cent alcohol) and lush, with a slightly oily texture and rich, beautifully ripe stone-fruit and spice flavours, slightly sweet (25 grams/litre of residual sugar) and soft, it’s already highly expressive; drink now or cellar.
