Burn Cottage Central Otago Pinot Noir (2012)

Estate-grown in the Cromwell Basin, the 2012 vintage (5*) was hand-picked and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Described by the producer as ‘the most firm and enigmatic Burn Cottage’, it is the best yet. Dark and youthful in colour, it is mouthfilling and savoury, with deep, complex cherry, plum and spice flavours, a subtle seasoning of oak, and lovely fruit sweetness and harmony. A very ‘complete’ wine with good muscle and a sense of hidden depths, it should flourish with cellaring.
