Aronui Single Vineyard Nelson Pinot Gris (2013)

From Kono – also owner of the Tohu brand – the 2013 vintage (4*) was estate-grown and hand-picked at Upper Moutere and mostly handled in tanks; 10 per cent was barrel-fermented. Mouthfilling, it is vibrantly fruity, with youthful pear, lychee, ginger and spice flavours, a touch of oak adding richness, fresh acidity and a tight, slightly sweet (11 grams/litre of residual sugar), lingering finish. Best drinking 2015+.
