Terravin Hillside Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir (2010)

This often memorable red was originally estate-grown in the Eaton family’s vineyard on clay slopes in the Omaka Valley (and labelled Hillside Selection), but is now from ‘hillside vineyards situated in the Southern Valleys’. The 2010 vintage (4.5*) was hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured in French oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Still youthful, it is deep ruby and fragrant, with fresh, strong plum, spice, dried-herb and liquorice flavours, slightly nutty and finely textured.
