Staete Landt Marlborough Riesling Auslese (2010)

Estate-grown and hand-picked from two rows at Rapaura, the 2010 vintage (4*) was fermented and matured in old French puncheons and made in a medium style (30 grams/litre of residual sugar). It’s technically not a ‘sweet’ wine, but due to the name ‘Auslese’ it has been put in this sectionof the book. A distinctive, light-bodied, low-alcohol wine (8.5 per cent), it is citrusy, with complexity from the wood handling, and excellent vibrancy, drive and depth.
