The 2011 vintage (2.5*), grown in ‘Sileni’s Hawke’s Bay vineyards’, has fullish, slightly developed colour, mouthfilling body and moderate depth of cherry and dried-herb flavours. The 2012 (3*), matured for 10 months in French oak casks (30 per cent new), is bright ruby, mouthfilling and supple, with vibrant plum, spice and slight tamarillo flavours, showing some savoury complexity. It’s enjoyable young.
