From Huia, the 2010 vintage (3.5*) is a bold style with strong, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, quite nutty and savoury. It’s a more complex style than most Pinot Noirs in this price range. The 2011 (3.5*), matured in French oak casks (25 per cent new), is bright ruby, fresh, vibrantly fruity and supple, with good depth of ripe, berryish, slightly spicy flavours, showing some complexity. Priced right.
