Askerne Late Harvest Sémillon (2009)

The 2009 vintage (3*) was estate-grown in Hawke’s Bay, hand-picked and fermented in old oak barrels. Amber-hued, it’s a very rich and raisiny, unabashedly sweet wine (168 grams/litre of residual sugar) with concentrated apricot, honey and nut flavours. Only a slight loss of freshness and vibrancy holds it back from a higher rating.
