Abbey Cellars Bishop Hawke’s Bay Merlot (2009)

The 2009 vintage (3*) is a full-bodied, Merlot-based red (85 per cent), grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle and blended with minor portions of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoyable now, it has good depth of plum, olive, herb and spice flavours, with some leathery notes emerging.
