The Elder, Martinborough Pinot Gris (2011)

The 2010 (4.5*) is a single-vineyard wine, grown at Te Muna, and fermented in a 50:50 split of tanks and old French oak casks. Fleshy, rich and rounded, it has strong peach and nectarine flavours, gently seasoned with oak, and excellent complexity, texture and depth. The 2011 vintage (4*) is scented, with rich peach, citrus-fruit and spice flavours, a subtle seasoning of oak and good complexity.
