Spy Valley Echelon Marlborough Méthode Traditionnelle (2009)

The 2009 vintage (3.5*) is a blend of estate-grown Pinot Noir (56 per cent) and Chardonnay (44 per cent). The base wine was fermented and aged for a year in old oak casks, and after its secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wine matured for 18 months on its yeast lees, prior to disgorging. Crisp and bone-dry (2 grams/litre of residual sugar), it is very crisp and lively, with fresh, lemony, appley, slightly nutty flavours, showing very good delicacy and vivacity.
