Seresin Marama Sauvignon Blanc (2009)

This complex style of Sauvignon Blanc is hand-picked from the oldest vines in the estate vineyard at Renwick, in Marlborough, fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques (25 per cent new in 2009), and wood-matured for well over a year. BioGro certified, the 2009 vintage (5*) is a powerful (14.5 per cent alcohol), fleshy wine with deep, dry, very ripe fruit flavours (think of figs, pears and spicy apples), nutty, slightly buttery notes adding richness, and a rounded, very harmonious finish. It’s an unusually complex wine, offering delicious drinking from now onwards.
