Mission Jewelstone Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay (2010)

This wine has shone since the super-stylish 2002 vintage (5*), grown in Central Hawke’s Bay. The 2010 vintage (5*) was grown in the Gimblett Gravels, hand-picked, and fermented and lees-aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. Bright, light yellow, it is mouthfilling, fleshy and rich, with very generous, ripe stone-fruit flavours, slightly buttery notes, finely balanced oak and a beautifully poised, rounded, lasting finish. A classy wine, it’s still developing; open mid-2013+.
