Saint Clair Pioneer Block 4 Sawcut Pinot Noir (2009)

Grown in Marlborough’s Ure Valley, 40 kilometres south of the Wairau Valley, the Pinot Noirs from this site are deeply coloured and flavoursome, although sometimes a bit leafy. The 2009 vintage (4*), matured in French oak casks (53 per cent new), is richly floral, vibrantly fruity and youthful, with pure, ripe, sweet-fruit flavours of cherries and plums, seasoned with French oak. An elegant, intensely varietal wine with fresh, lively acidity, it’s well worth cellaring.
