Cloudy Bay’s non-vintage Marlborough bubbly is a Chardonnay-dominant style, with 20 per cent Pinot Noir, matured for at least two years on its yeast lees (a year less than for the vintage). It is made in a more fruit-driven style than the vintage, but still refined. The batch on sale in 2011 (4.5*) is pale straw, with a very fresh and inviting, citrusy, yeasty bouquet. Vivacious, with incisive, lemony, biscuity, gently yeasty flavours, it is crisp, elegant and refreshing.
