Hunter’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (2010)

Hunter’s fame rests on this fully dry wine, which has the intense aromas of cool-climate grapes, uncluttered by oak handling. The goal is ‘a strong expression of Marlborough fruit – a bell-clear wine with a mix of tropical and searing gooseberry characters’. The grapes are sourced from numerous sites in the Wairau Valley, and to retain their fresh, vibrant characters, they are processed very quickly, with protective anaerobic techniques and minimal handling. The wine is usually at its best between one and two years old. The 2010 vintage (4*) is crisp, strong and bone-dry (1.4 grams/litre of residual sugar), in a finely balanced style with melon, citrus-fruit and lime flavours, pure, zingy and lingering.
