The 2009 vintage (5*) was made from dehydrated Marlborough grapes, harvested at 34 brix with just a touch of botrytis (5 per cent). Fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, it’s a low-alcohol style (8.5 per cent), golden, with a gingery fragrance and lovely richness of sweet (180 grams/litre of residual sugar), citrusy, spicy flavours, layered, complex and well-rounded.
