From Awaroa, but not estate-grown, the delicious 2020 vintage (5*) is a blend of Merlot (38 per cent), Cabernet Franc (32 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (22 per cent) and Petit Verdot (8 per cent), matured in French oak casks (30 per cent new). Promoted as 'our take on a Bordeaux 'Right Bank' wine', it is deeply coloured, sweet-fruited and savoury, with very generous, vibrant berry, plum and spice flavours, and refined, supple tannins. Rich, youthful and vibrantly fruity, it's still unfolding and very ageworthy; best drinking 2024+.
