Estate-grown inland, at the Woodthorpe Terraces Vineyard in the Dartmoor Valley, the 2020 vintage (5*) is a deep ruby, scented, softly mouthfilling red. It was matured for 11 months in French oak barriques, new and seasoned. Notably savoury, it has rich, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, complex, well-rounded and lingering. In a ‘blind’ tasting, I would probably pick Martinborough as the region of origin. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2024+.
