Coal Pit Proprietor's Reserve Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc (2021)

Hand-picked from vines over 25 years old, the highly characterful 2021 vintage (4.5*) was grown at Gibbston and mostly handled in tanks; 40 per cent of the blend was fermented in new French oak casks, with extended lees aging. Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouthfilling, with good intensity of fresh, vigorous, tropical fruit flavours, a hint of herbs, slightly toasty notes adding complexity and a tightly structured, crisp, dry finish. Best drinking mid-2023+.
