The highly distinctive 2020 vintage (3.5*) was made from hand-harvested Riesling bunches, left unpressed in a fermenting tank for nearly six months on their skins. Slightly cloudy (it was bottled without any fining, filtration or additions), it has strong, orange-like flavours and a dry, tannic finish. I found it more characterful than pleasurable, or as winemaker Rosie Menzies observes: "it's definitely phenolic."
