'Serieux' (pronounced Sa-ryce) is French for 'serious'. The classy and distinctive 2021 vintage (5*) is a blend of Mourvedre (48 per cent), Carmenere (44 per cent) and Petit Verdot (8 per cent), partly (28 per cent) fermented in old French oak casks. Bright pink, it is fragrant and vibrantly fruity, with strong, yet delicate watermelon, strawberry and spice flavours, showing good complexity, gentle acidity and an unusually dry (1 gram/litre of residual sugar) finish. Full of interest, it offers good value.
