Review:
Estate-grown at Mangere, in South Auckland, the 2017 vintage (4.5*) was hand-picked and predominantly (80 per cent) fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons. Mouthfilling and fleshy, it is strongly varietal, with vibrant pear, lychee and spice flavours, showing good complexity, gentle acidity, an off-dry finish (10.8 grams/litre of residual sugar), and an enticingly perfumed bouquet. Drink now or cellar.
