Tony Bish Skeetfield Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay

Review:

Still unfolding, the pale gold 2018 vintage (5*) is based on mature, Mendoza-clone vines in the Skeetfield Vineyard at Ohiti. Hand-harvested, it was fermented and matured for a year in French oak barriques (60 per cent new). Highly fragrant, it is a full-bodied, powerful but not heavy wine, savoury and complex, with concentrated, ripe stone-fruit flavours, integrated toasty oak, fresh acidity, and a very long finish. Best drinking 2022+.
