Sacred Hill Riflemans Chardonnay

Review:

Sacred Hill’s flagship Chardonnay is one of New Zealand’s greatest – powerful yet elegant, with striking intensity and outstanding cellaring potential. Grown in the cool, inland, elevated (100 metres above sea level) Riflemans Vineyard in the Dartmoor Valley of Hawke’s Bay, it is hand-picked from mature, own-rooted, Mendoza-clone vines and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques (80 per cent new in 2019). The 2019 vintage (5*) is bright, light lemon/green, with a fragrant, complex, slightly smoky bouquet. Mouthfilling, vibrant and concentrated, it is highly refined, with deep, very youthful stone-fruit and toasty oak flavours, poised, rich and very harmonious. Best drinking 2022+.
