Rippon Emma’s Block Pinot Noir

Review:

From an east-facing slope, this Lake Wanaka wine has ‘animated femininity’, according to winemaker Nick Mills. It is typically matured in French oak barrels (25 per cent new in 2017) for two winters in Central Otago, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2017 vintage (5*) is full-coloured, fragrant and savoury, with an array of cherry, plum, herb and spice flavours, showing impressive complexity and density, and good tannin backbone. Best drinking 2023+.
