Review:
Named in honour of nineteenth-century winemaker Cyprian Huchet, the 2013 vintage (5*) is a powerful red with a fragrant, spicy bouquet. Estate-grown in Mere Road, in the Gimblett Gravels, and French oak-matured for 18 months (33 per cent new), it is deeply coloured, with a fragrant, spicy bouquet. Mouthfilling, it has richly varietal, concentrated blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, fine-grained tannins, and a very harmonious finish. An elegant red with a long future, it should be at its best 2021+.
