Review:
Estate-grown at Bendigo, in the Cromwell Basin, the very youthful, vigorous 2019 vintage (5*) was hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for a year in French oak hogsheads (25 per cent new). Full, bright ruby, it is mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with concentrated cherry, plum and spice flavours, savoury notes adding complexity, fresh, finely balanced acidity and supple tannins. Showing obvious potential for cellaring, it should be at its best 2023+.
