Greywacke Marlborough Chardonnay

Review:

The vigorous, youthful 2017 vintage (5*) is bright, light yellow/green, with a fragrant, complex bouquet. Mouthfilling, it has deep, vibrant grapefruit and peach flavours, finely integrated oak, slightly smoky notes, and a long, savoury, harmonious finish. Best drinking 2022+. Retasted in mid to late 2019, the 2016 vintage (4.5*) is an elegant, tightly structured, very age-worthy wine, hand-harvested and oak-aged for 18 months (French barriques, 12 per cent new). Mouthfilling, with a complex, slightly smoky bouquet, it has ripe, peachy, slightly toasty flavours, strong and youthful. Best drinking 2021+.
