Review:
Greystone views Chardonnay as ‘the finest white wine variety’. Grown on steep, north-facing limestone slopes, this wine is hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, given a full, softening malolactic fermentation, and matured in French oak casks (40 per cent new in 2018). The 2018 vintage (5*) is a lovely young wine. Bright, light yellow/green, with a fragrant, complex bouquet, it is mouthfilling, with concentrated, vibrant, savoury, peachy, citrusy flavours, showing excellent complexity, that build to a poised, lasting finish. Likely to be long-lived, it should break into full stride 2023+.
