Review:
At its best, this Central Otago red is mouthfilling and savoury, with superb concentration of sweet-tasting, plummy fruit and lovely harmony. The grapes have been drawn from various sub-regions and vineyards over the years and yields have been very low (under 5 tonnes/hectare). The 2019 vintage (5*) was grown at Pisa and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (22 per cent new). Deep ruby, it is a powerful red, mouthfilling, sweet-fruited and supple, with deep cherry, plum and spice flavours, a hint of liquorice, and a finely balanced, long finish. Best drinking 2023+.
