Review:
Estate-grown in The Elms Vineyard, from mature vines on a ‘steeper slope’ which yields ‘riper fruit’ without noble rot, this Bannockburn wine is made in a style ‘similar to a late-harvest, Mosel spätlese’. The 2020 vintage (5*) is a very Mosel-like wine. Bright, light lemon/green, it is lemon-scented, with vibrant, citrusy, appley flavours, gentle sweetness (69 grams/litre of residual sugar), appetising acidity, and lovely poise, delicacy and depth. Already seductive, it’s well worth cellaring.
