Clos de Ste Anne La Bas Gisborne Chenin Blanc

Review:

Certified biodynamic, the 2018 vintage (4.5*) is from a section of the vineyard ‘down there’ (La Bas). Grown in Millton’s Clos de Ste Anne hillside vineyard at Manutuke, in Gisborne, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, it was matured for nine months in large, 600-litre oak barrels (‘demi-muids’). Pale gold, it is medium-bodied, with concentrated, vigorous, peachy, vaguely toasty flavours, showing good complexity, a strong sense of youthful drive, and a dry, harmonious finish. Best drinking 2022+.
