Review:
The distinguished 2016 vintage (5*) is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (41 per cent), Merlot (39 per cent) and Malbec (20 per cent), grown at Te Awanga (59 per cent) and in the Gimblett Gravels (41 per cent). Hand-picked and matured for nearly two years in new French oak barrels, it is a powerful, deeply coloured red, with mouthfilling body and dense, ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours. Still youthful, with impressive complexity and the structure to mature gracefully for many years, it should break into full stride 2023+.
