Churton Best End Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Review:

This is Churton’s ‘single block, organic Sauvignon Blanc’. From a north-facing slope, 185 metres above sea level, in the Waihopai Valley, the 2017 vintage (5*) was fermented and lees-aged for a year in French oak puncheons (20 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Weighty and tightly structured, it has vigorous, intense, ripely herbaceous flavours, showing good complexity, a minerally streak, very finely integrated oak, and a sustained, dry (1.4 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Best drinking 2021+. Certified organic.
