Brancott Estate Letter Series ‘B’ Brancott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Review:

This wine is promoted by Pernod Ricard NZ as ‘our finest expression of Marlborough’s most famous variety’ – and lives up to its billing. ‘Palate weight, concentration and longevity’ are the goals. It has traditionally been grown in the company’s sweeping Brancott Vineyard, on the south, slightly cooler side of the Wairau Valley, and a significant portion (14 per cent in 2018) is fermented and lees-aged in large French oak vessels, to add ‘some toast and spice as well as palate richness’. The delicious 2018 vintage (5*) has rich, ripe tropical-fruit aromas, leading into a fleshy, sweet-fruited wine with strong passionfruit/lime flavours, showing considerable complexity, and a dry, very harmonious finish.
