Review:
This memorable wine has richness, complexity and downright drinkability. From a company-owned block of low-yielding Mendoza-clone vines in the Craighall Vineyard, planted in 1983, it is hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques (around 25 per cent new). The 2017 vintage (5*) is bright, light lemon/green, with a fragrant, slightly creamy bouquet. A refined, subtle wine, it is full-bodied, with fresh, youthful, peachy, citrusy, slightly biscuity flavours, showing excellent delicacy and depth, finely integrated oak, balanced acidity and a long finish. Best drinking 2021+.
